Grandparents report launched

A report looking at grandparenting was launched by Children in Wales in March. The report If it Wasn't for you Gran: A Survey of Grandparents in Wales outlined the results of a survey asking grandparents about various aspects of their role. The survey found that:

• Almost half the grandparents surveyed are making a financial contribution to their children in order to "make ends meet"
• Significant numbers of grandparents report difficulties in retaining contact with grandchildren following family breakdown
• Children talk to their grandparents about issues that they would find difficult to broach with their parents
